Position: Qualitative Researcher

Research:
The Post-Pregnancy Family Planning (PPFP) Choices Study (Public Health Division, Center for Health Policy and Management (CHPM), Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada

Overview
The Center for Health Policy and Management or CHPM is a research center under the structure of University of Gadjah Mada Faculty of Medicine. CHPM is the leading institution in the development of the Indonesian Health Policy Network. Since 1998, CHPM has contributed to Indonesia’s health systems improvement by providing evidence-based information to aid decision-making process by policy makers and key stakeholders.
CHPM is currently managing research “The Post-Pregnancy Family Planning (PPFP) Choices Study”, collaboration with the governments of Indonesia and Jhon Hopkins Program for International Education in Gynecology and Obstetrics (JHPIEGO), implementing the program which aims to work within existing public and private health facilities to strengthen the quality of PPFP.
The project is looking for a QUALITATIVE RESEARCHER who will be responsible for conducting the qualitative research. The Researcher will be collaboratively working with the project’s Principal Investigator (PI) and team members based at the Faculty of Medicine of the Gadjah Mada University.

Duties and Key Responsibilities:
1. Conducting In-depth Interviews (IDIs) to identify the social, cultural, contextual, economic and service, age, and gender related reasons women did not receive an immediate post-abortion family planning method
2. Conducting the focus group discussion to identify the social, cultural, contextual, economic and service, age, and gender related factors affecting women’s perceptions of access to and use of Family Planning
3. Transcribing the data, analyzing the qualitative data and writing the final qualitative report

Requirements
1. Master degree in public health; equivalent qualifications will be considered
2. Extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience; and/ or education and training to the research project
3. Experience in conducting qualitative studies and qualitative data analysis
4. Good organizational skills
5. Proficient in English both written and oral

Personal qualities
1. High level inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to build a good rapport with community
2. The ability to work under pressure
Logistics:
1. Willing to stay in Yogyakarta for about 4 months during the data collection period
2. Willing to travel to Kabupaten Brebes dan Kabupaten Batang for qualitative data collection purposes
